HUNT NZ SAFARIS - ARRIVAL INFORMATION

    NEW ZEALAND ARRIVAL INFORMATION

A valid current passport is required for entry into New Zealand.  A visa may also be required - check with your travel agent, the New Zealand Consulate, or the Air New Zealand office in your Country for details of your requirements.

The main arrival points for New Zealand are: AUCKLAND and CHRISTCHURCH.  Most flights from the USA and Europe terminate in Auckland, however if your flight is from Australia it may terminate in Christchurch.

    AUCKLAND

Auckland the largest city in New Zealand, is situated in the upper portion of the North Island, on a large harbour area.  It is well know for yachting, and hosts many large regattas.

On arrival you may stay overnight in the city.  There are many hotels within easy reach of the international and domestic terminals, (use the courtesy phones that are available in the terminals to arrange free transport) or transfer to your first hunting area.

    Your procedure on arrival:

Clear customs, DECLARE any firearms that you are carrying, a firearms permit will be issued to you at this time by the airport police, it costs NZ$25.

IT IS EASIEST AND QUICKEST TO GET YOUR PERMIT PRE ARRANGED BEFORE YOU ARRIVE. Fax/post the information to the NZ Police, at your arrival airport.

Include: full name, address, date of birth, occupation, photocopies of: passport, photograph and any current firearm permits. Your flight number, date and time of arrival plus the particulars of the firearms you are bringing. This will allow pre entry of the details and speed the issue. Remember that hand guns are not legal in NEW ZEALAND, don't bring them and expect to hunt.

    NZ POLICE AUCKLAND AIRPORT:
Fax 64-9-2560486. P.O. Box 73-004, Auckland, New Zealand

    NZ POLICE CHRISTCHURCH AIRPORT:
Fax 64-3-3537871. P.O. Box 14084, Christchurch, New Zealand

Proceed to either the domestic terminal for travel to your hunting area (there is a courtesy coach) or arrange transport to your overnight accommodation.

Your first hunting area will either be close to Taupo or Rotorua, in the North Island, if you are hunting Sika or Sambar Stag or Christchurch in the South Island if you are hunting Red Stag, Thar or Chamois. You will be met in the terminals at the baggage claim on arrival in these destinations.

    CHRISTCHURCH

Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island, it is on the Canterbury Plains, about 1 hours drive from the Southern Alps, the area in which we hunt Thar, Chamois etc. This alpine area runs the length of the South Island and we have concessions to hunt over several hundred thousand acres.

    Procedure on arrival:

If you are leaving an INTERNATIONAL flight clear customs as for Auckland, getting your firearms permit.  You will be met by a company member in the terminal.  We normally proceed to the hunting area, or your overnight accommodation by road.

If you are arriving in Christchurch on a domestic flight collect your baggage and WAIT in the baggage claim area where you will be met.
